Blackbird Fly - Photos Developed

Just received last night two rolls of developed film taken by BBF. I love the finer control of focus and sprocket hole effect a lot.

The dark corner effect is strong enough to create a nice gradient blue sky in sunny days, particularly when using e2c or x-processing film.

"Black Bird Fly" Arrives!

Finally, this nice little 135 Twin Lens Reflex plastic camera created from scratch by Superheadz will arrive Hong Kong exclusively at city'super/LOGON in Oct/Nov!

BBF with flash

I knew about this from Superheadz since last year and they've been sending prototypes to selected photographers around the world for testing and testing and testing. In addition to their 110 cute cameras, this will make history in the world of toy camera. Drooling to play with it for a long time, finally I received a sample this August. Obviously Superheadz took tremendous effort to make it perfect before they are comfortable giving me a sample to try. I've seen Hiruma san on Tokyo's street talking on the phone in sweat with the manufacturer because of the flood in China back in July, which explains the delay in release.

During this launch, only 3 colors will appear in the market. Black, Orange and Blue. But I've seen other colors in their office back in July, red, brown and yellow. In addition, somewhere on Flickr I saw white too.

The most amazing things I like about BBF is built-in film counter (no more camera backs/adaptors), removable film masks to create sprocket holes effect and square photos, not to mention a hot shoe for flash. Instantly tons of things to play with just like Holga or even more. I'm so glad both LOMO and Superheadz are now deviating their paths further by doing things other than the most popular Holga, differentiating from each other instead of competing with fancy packaging and Holga accessories only. LOMO's new path is with Diana, while Superheadz with 110 cameras and BBF.

this is like weather today... now we're having humid and dusty weather so you can imagine how your car will look like when go check it out...

ahhh... and i've been SOOO LAAAZZYYYY... it's like the 9th day of Ramadan and i only went out twice.. other than staying in my bed at night till dawn and sleep.. wake up in the afternoon do some stuff.. then at night.. stay home watching lost or online... or fixing my photos.. which is something i love but im not the home type.. and all the streets are so crowded around here because life starts after breaking the fasting which is at night .. so things are not going really the way i like it.. but we'll see... other than that, i think im gaining weight from all this lazyness.. ohh yea.. i think i might go do some running tomorrow at night or something , just to refresh myself a bit.. still planing to April trip and running it through my head... it's the dream.. but we'll see...

and yea, some thoughts are running in my head as i try to evaluate and analyze my life and do the arranging.. sometimes with things i dont like.. but i'll write about it to the hoody i guess.. some serious stuff not to be published i guess.. better not to be..

iPhone Kaleidoscope Camera Effect

In addition to lomolizing your iPhone, I found that using Diana+ wide angle viewfinder as an iPhone add-on lens not only improves close-up quality, it even allows me to create double exposure effect as well as kaleidoscope effect.

If you look at the Diana+ viewfinder in detail, you'll see a top window collecting light for the cross hair seen through the viewfinder. By prying open the top window, you will be able to remove the cross hair film and replace it with anything you like, such as your negative/positive film, a painted transparent film etc, thereby creating an overlay or double exposure effect when the viewfinder is used to take shots.

In the above example, I used negative films cut into pieces and put them inside the top window compartment to create a kaleidoscope effect. This create unique imagery for every shot you take, simply shake the viewfinder before you take a shot.

The fun thing about this effect is that you can control the amount of light entering from the viewfinder's top window by using just your finger to make shade. So you get to control how much the kaleidoscope effect is showing in your image, the more light you allow from viewfinder's top, the more dominant the kaleidoscope effect is. If you completely cover the viewfinder's top, you will get a clear image of what your iPhone camera is pointing at. Isn't it amazing? WYSIWYG!

Another way to play with the viewfinder is to replace the cross hair film by a transparent film painted with colors. I found it interesting to dab black pigment ink on one side of the film and then colors from markers on the other side. This method gives you enough dim light (because the black pigment blocks light from viewfinder's top) to show your target image, yet allowing enough colored light to get through. Again, placing your finger on viewfinder's top allows you to control the image blend, compare the image above the two below to see the extremes.

Finally, instead of using iPhone's built-in camera software, I'd suggest you to try Snapture, which allows you to create sepia/negative/grayscale effects and has a timer feature so that you can save one finger in order to hold your iPhone + viewfinder more securely :)

Lomolized iPhone Camera Hack

I use my iPhone camera mostly for shooting objects but I'm not going to limit my options by modifying the built-in camera as described by eastrain here. So I decided to try using viewfinders from Lomo cameras to see what I could achieve.

All these Lomo camera lenses has add-on viewfinders and they have great effects on iPhone! Diana+ wide angle lens, LCA+ wide angle lens and Fisheye, each creates unique imagery.

I'm however settled to carry my Diana+ wide angle viewfinder with me all the time coz I love the viewfinder frame and the way I can hold the viewfinder in front of iPhone using its viewfinder holder.

There can be numerous analog effects to play with, add prism in front, create pack film effect by painting/printing on a transparent film as filter, etc. I'm yet to find an easy way to put dozens of filters in front of the viewfinder so that I will be carrying only one gadget for a lot of different effects. Anybody has any ideas please don't hesitate to post or email.

was a bit tired on the 1st day from the change in the bio watch inside me and couldn't do much but staying in my bed watching Heroes till i almost finished it..

and was a bit late on my 365 project so i had to come up with something nice this time.. im kinda showing some of the stuff i have from Thailand.. hehehe just some little things!

what else? i actually have nothing in my mind.. been like 16 days now and i didn't shave so i kinda look a bit ugly! and i really got nothing to do now, so i'm gonna lay down in my bed,, stay online for a while.. and keep surfing or watching some of the series i got..

i have this group photo for some guys in one of the trips in Thailand ai have to send them the photos, but im just too lazy to do so.. so i'm not doing this tonight.. hehe..
